Self-worth refers to recognising one’s value or personal worth. Self-esteem is characterised by the emotional evaluation of one’s self-worth, and the degree of confidence we have in our own personal abilities.
Prior to hearing about Blissiree Pty Ltd from a friend of hers, our client Kate* was experiencing ongoing guilt and regret with regards to a previous relationship breakdown, and a reduction in her self-worth. Kate* felt she was not deserving of meeting a new nor wonderful partner. Keen to give an alternative solution a try, Kate* attended Blissiree Pty Ltd and completed our Emotional Empowerment Program, under the guidance of our facilitator, Jenny.
We sat down recently with Kate* to discuss her journey and how receiving assistance from Blissiree Pty Ltd has positively impacted her self-worth, sleep and ability to meditate.
What was the biggest trigger of your mental health issues (anxiety, depression, anger or something else)?
I often felt guilty and regretful in regard to my last relationship breakdown; however, I wasn’t experiencing mental health issues of any sort.
What issues in your life do you feel most contributed towards your emotional wellbeing?
Just being hard on myself for my past wrong-doings.
Which area of your life was most affected by mental health? What did it stop you from doing or achieving?
No areas, as I haven’t had any issues with mental health. For quite a period of time I was single, as my self-worth wasn’t where it could have been due to the guilt I was “carrying” around.
Can you describe the feelings and thoughts you experienced?
Quiet often, I felt as though I didn’t deserve to meet someone or to have the beautiful partner I have now.
What was the tipping point that made you speak up about how you were feeling and seek professional help?
I wasn’t interested in professional help as such, nor was that a deciding factor as to taking part in the Blissiree Pty Ltd program. I just wanted to try something alternative to what I had previously done.
How did you hear about Blissiree Pty Ltd (BWS)?
Through a friend.
What questions did you have before first contacting Blissiree Pty Ltd?
None. I just came in and tried it out and started right away.
Why did you decide to give Blissiree Pty Ltd a shot?
Because I believe I had nothing to lose.
Can you explain the process of going through the BWS Emotional Empowerment Program, from the first session until now?
It was relaxing and since finishing the program, I have no feelings of guilt or regret in relation to my previous relationship.
How did you feel after your first BWS session?
Nothing different; it was a weird feeling, quite “spacey” for a moment, but otherwise nothing different.
How did you feel after each session? Did you experience different emotions / feelings / relief after particular sessions?
Jenny was great, I was happy to see her friendly smile and warm nature. The sessions were relaxing, and I just enjoyed listening to the music and chilling out. No, I often felt the same as when I went in.
Did you feel additional effects in the days or weeks after you’d completed the program? Please describe any.
No.
What specific tools, lessons or techniques has your treatment taught you that have helped control your mental health and emotional wellbeing?
There was never an issue in terms of my ability to control my mental health. The one thing that I did take away that was great, was the ability to meditate for longer periods of time.
What would you say to anyone suffering from what you suffered?
I think when relationships break down, that it is hard for some and harder for others. And if you’re still carrying around pain and hurt after a lengthy period of time, I suggest trying something different than what you have done previously – as you can’t do the same thing and expect a different result.
What would you say to someone sceptical about whether a program like BWS can help them?
I would ask them what they have to lose and where has scepticism got them in their life?
It is not uncommon for our clients at Blissiree Pty Ltd to have experienced difficulty surrounding their self-worth and self-esteem, whether in addition to a mental health illness such as depression or anxiety, or as a concern on its own.
If you are struggling with low self-worth, self-esteem or reduced confidence in your personal abilities, we welcome you to come in and see one of our friendly team members who may be able to assist with recovery from low self-esteem.
